The first stop on our world trip had to be London. We have made London almost a regular stopover on trips to the U.S. and the children thoroughly enjoy the sights and sounds of this great city.

Of course, if you travel with children, then you have to make Convent Garden one of your preferred spots! Our Hotel, the London Waldorf is just around the corner from this magic collection of attractions, shops and restaurants.  The street artists are what make Convent garden so special and we learned that our son, Callum, was a literal asset to all of their shows. Hardly an act went by, without Callum being called up to participate! And as the old adage goes: “like father, like son”, we turned this one around to “like son, like father”!

A trip to the wax museum, Madame Tussauds, brought us all closer to the stars of past and present. With our family portrait intact with the likes of Prince William and Prince Edward, we could move on to explore more of the city. We enjoyed the open Double-Decker red buses as we toured around getting off and on at various points of interest. No stopover in London would be complete without seeing Buckingham Palace, home to Queen Elisabeth. Although we missed the changing of the guards, we did catch several of the royal guard musicians and soldiers on display because we happened to be in London for the Queen’s official birthday – which means that her birthday is also “officially” celebrated in the summer so that various events, parades, etc can be planned. This is a tradition that was started back with King George I believe, and still practised today by the present monarchy.

Last but not least, our London trips always include a trip to the West End where we enjoy seeing one of the latest musical productions. This time it was the new production of Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theater.  Oh, and of course I can’t forget the time on my Travel Tec which has caught the eye of a few inquisitive watch collectors  over the past two days! Here from the bridge in front of the London eye we can make out all three time zones of interest to our family. The present time of 1.27 p.m. here in London, the Swiss time of 2.27 p.m. as shown by the red hand pointing to the outer 24 hour circle as well as 8.27 a.m. the present time in Ohio which is the headquarters of Carl F. Bucherer in America and which is our next stop after London!
